THE BASKET CATCH
21" x 32" x 2" Cherry.

The Basket Catch is the result of great collaboration between the client and artist. It slides into a recess that was left in the stone facade above the fireplace in a new Maine island home downeast.

The client's childhood memories of the herring boats, and the presence of both fresh and saltwater marshes near the homesite lead to this composition. All four herons found in Maine are present, along with local puffin and loon around a Maliseet style basket filled with herring. The set is garnished with rosa rugosa and arrowhead.
